Improved career prospects with TOEIC

We offer all our students excellent courses and support to help them take many useful examinations and

we are an officially accredited TOEIC test centre.

This means students of intermediate level and above can take TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication ) at the school and we run examinations on the last Thursday in every month. Results can be known in as little as 24 hours and the cost is just GBP 85 including certificate.

Students can therefore have the opportunity to go home with not only the OISE leaving certificate, assess in their command of English according to the Common European Framework, but also with an internationally recognised TOEIC score.

What is TOEIC?

The TOEIC test is the most widely used test of professional English and a benchmark of language competency for over 5000 companies worldwide.

In fact some companies such as Airbus, Renault a d Coca-Cola use minimum TOEIC score requirements in their job descriptions.

It is an objective assessment of reading, listening and grammar and importantly for employers and employees provides a highly reliable method of assessing linguistic skills for the workplace.

The OISE TOEIC preparation course consists of daily study from 3.15 to 5.30 and homework and runs after the Octorial programme. It is designed to help students prepare for the TOEIC by:

doing practice tests to become familiar with the format

focussing on and improving in the parts of the exam that the student find the most difficult

working on their individual study plan Students are given their own study planner to record scores and progress and help them focus.

How does it work?

The test itself is split into two sections,each with 100 multiple choice questions based on real-life work settings.

Section one is listening comprehension aand involves listening to short conversations,questions, etc. This takes 45 minutes.

The second section is reading comprehension using a wide variaty of materials and lasting 75 minutes.

This is then continued for 30 minutes to allow students to answer biographical questions and a short questionnaire on their education and work history.

Please bear in mind that the exams are on the last Thursday of every month.
