James Banner, director of external courses at Hilderstone College visited Chile last September. He was a speaker at the Tesol Conference and UCINF university.
Hilderstone College is a non-profit state college specialising in English language teaching to adults. Since 1970, Hilderstone has run highly successful courses for students and teachers from all over the world. They work closely wih universities, official goverment bodies such as the British council, and organisations representing state education in many other countries.
You will also find many British people at Hilderstone. At the college, there is an adult education centre, which offers a wide range of courses for people in the local area, and they train teachers of English from many countries. We are members of BASELT( The British Asociation State English Language Teaching) and EQUALS ( the European Association for Quality Language Services). Our courses are accredited by the British Council.They aim to provide you with the highest quality in all aspects of your course-in the classroom, with your host family, in the College itself, and outside the College during social activities. They have a rigorous system of Quality Assurance, they constatly check how satisfied their students are , and they make any necessary changes to ensure that the quality of your course is maintained.

All courses offer a minimum of 25 hours (25x60 minutes) academic programme per week, ( 21 hours of classes and 4+ hours supervised self-access study and /or examination practice). In addition, there is a full programme of social and cultural activities. Annual average 9 students per class, maximum 12.
Fees
Fees include all tuition classes, teaching materials, accomodation with an English family and a programme of social activities.
In addition to courses fees, there is a small charge for excursions and optional activities, and a Registration fee.
You must make a payment in advance: either the total fees or a deposit of GBP 100.
There are 4 courses each year -Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer-each lasting about three months. Most students stay for one or two courses, some for a complete academic year.

Broadstairs is in Kent, in the South East of England. It is easy to reach by road and rail from London (110 km), and close to Canteburry, The Channel Tunnel and The Channel ports of Dover, Folstone and Ramstage
